Books, research and expert commentary referenced by the ASAS project.

he books we reference throughout this website and in our work-book come from authors and clinicians who have spent years studying relationship dynamics, conflict patterns, and emotional abuse. To be clear, we haven’t read every book in full, however, each one offered concepts, language, and insights that helped us recognize and articulate the toxic patterns we were living through. They provided illumination and clarity, providing introductions to ideas that defined our painful experience and gave us a framework for understanding what had felt chaotic, baffling and cruel. We especially want to acknowledge Dr. Susan Heitler, whose work and guidance provided the OMG moment where we recognized we were living a textbook case of exactly what she is writing about. Her research was instrumental in helping us see the dynamics clearly and begin to unmask them with confidence.
